SAN JUAN DE ULUA

This place served as a refuge to the boats that were in the port. The Castle of San Juan de Ulua was a strong fortification to the history for the American Continent. This building was built with the object to store articles that were taken to Spain.Years later was used too as headquarters for the troops and jail for the prisoners.

MUSEO HISTORICO NAVAL DE VERACRUZ

(Naval Museum of Veracruz)

This building was used for 55 years as a Military Naval School. It contains 18 different rooms showing the evolution of the naval history until the participation of the arms of Mexico of the II war world. Shows Hispanic Navigation, Geographical discoveries, living first expeditions and more...Also visitors can see the foundation of the wall that surrounded the city of Veracruz in the 18th century.*The entry for this Museum is free.

EL MUSEO DE LA CIUDAD

(The Museum of the City)

This museum shows the history of Veracruz, showing 8 rooms. In the exterior you can see the engraved old manuscripts that represent the violent fusion of the indigenous and Spanish cultures. *The entry at this Museum is free.

MUSEO FARO VENUSTIANO CARRANZA

(Museum of Lighthouse Venustiano Carranza)

This attraction of Veracruz was built in the year of 1902. It was inaugurated by the President of the Republic, Porfirio Diaz in 1910 with the motive to established the first centenary of the Independence. Venustiano Carranza (one of the leaders of the Mexican Revolution) established many changes to the nation in this building, that's why he called it "El Faro" (The Lighthouse) that still with this name until this day. This museum still contains objects of Venustiano Carranza, as well as photos and documents that relate big part of the military life and the port of Veracruz.

Museo Casa Salvador Diaz Miron

(Museum, House of Salvador Diaz Miron)

This places was the residence of Salvador Diaz Miron, one of the greatest poets of Mexico. He lived here until his death, in 1928.In 1981, the building was purchased by the Government of Veracruz and refurbished to open the doors as a museum in 1982.This museum exhibits different documents and personal objects of the poet. The main floor shows plastic Arts, an auditorium with literary, that encourages the artistic work. The second floor there are six rooms, one of multiples uses, his office and a glass case with his chinaware.*The entry is free.
